Equipment
for Patient Safety: The ICS-4000 Radionuclide Identifier
You
encounter radioactive materials used for patient therapies at
your facility every day. Whether you are receiving therapeutic
radionuclides at a loading dock or monitoring for them in the
waste stream, you need the right equipment to locate and identify
this material. You also need to be prepared for emergency triage
in the event that a radiological dispersal device is detonated. The
ICS-4000 Radionuclide Identifier provides the information
required to perform regulatory and emergency procedures.
Radiation Safety
The ICS-4000
simultaneously identifies multiple radionuclides, benefiting radiation
safety personnel who control radionuclide inventories and monitor radioactive
waste. The ICS-4000 is an effective tool to identify unknown radiological
materials released by spills or accidents.
Nuclear Medicine
The ICS-4000
automatically identifies radioactive materials and provides audible
alarms to medical personnel working in nuclear medicine labs. The ICS-4000
uses a high resolution CZT detector capable of detecting gamma rays
from 10 keV — 2 MeV. A built in
library of 160 radionuclides is the most comprehensive on the market
and includes all radioactive isotopes encountered in nuclear medicine
applications. The ICS-4000 can be used for radionuclide quality
control to prevent the misadministration of radiopharmaceuticals, and
to monitor patients after procedures.
Emergency Room
The ICS-4000
is an ideal instrument for medical personnel in emergency rooms performing
radiological triage. The alarming rate meter offers the best dynamic
range for a hand-held unit, measuring and reporting
from micoRem (µR) to high milliREM (mR) field strengths
in real time. The directional detector effectively locates
and identifies hot particle contamination on victims of
radiological accidents and disasters.
